POMELLATO UNVEILS NEW CAPSULE COLLECTION: ‘BISANZIO’, A CONTEMPORARY BYZANTINE VISION

Pomellato’s MEMORIE D’ARCHIVIO continues its annual journey through the Maison’s heritage, breathing new life into historic pieces through sophisticated modern statements. Each exclusive capsule collection honors iconic creations through masterful craftsmanship and an extraordinary array of gems that highlight nature’s hidden artistry—from organic inclusions to crystalline formations millennia in the making.

For 2025, the spotlight falls on ‘Bisanzio’, a captivating collection from the 1990s that embodies Pomellato’s pioneering spirit with essential volumes and colored gemstones. Reimagined for today, Bisanzio features rings and necklaces in 16 mesmerizing stone combinations, each composing its own chromatic narrative.

“An ancient opulence, weathered by time, echoes through Bisanzio jewels. The sensuality of the hard stone cabochons and the bold volumes of the jewels tell of a contemporary regality—still capable of seduction.” declares Vincenzo Castaldo, Pomellato Creative Director.

The art of cabochon

At the heart of Bisanzio lies Pomellato’s mastery of the cabochon cut—smooth, sensuous domes that have become synonymous with the brand’s philosophy of refined boldness. The cushion-square variation amplifies each stone’s inherent character and softens ancient regal aesthetics for modern sensibilities. Light glides uninterrupted across these generous volumes— an intimate study in proportion, weight, and feel.

The collection’s palette reveals Pomellato’s exceptional talent for chromatic harmony: pyrope garnet blazes alongside orange sapphires and brown diamonds; amazonite’s oceanic calm meets rare Paraiba tourmalines; delicate rhodochrosite dances with vibrant demantoids; midnight lapis lazuli pairs with ethereal tanzanite; while banded agate’s organic patterns find brilliance through white diamond accents.

Invisible artistry

The technical achievement of Bisanzio lies in its flush- setting technique, which liberates stones from visible support structures, creating the illusion of gems seamlessly one with the rose gold surface.

The cross pendant stands as the collection’s most provocative statement—simultaneously opulent and austere, it reimagines an ancient symbol through a modern lens. Here, carefully selected gemstones create bold chromatic contrasts against broad, linear rose gold silhouette.

Each ring slides onto the finger as a sculptural statement, while pendants suspended from rose gold chains with distinctive oval links become personal emblems of color and craft.

Color as language

Pomellato’s chromatic mastery lies in the dialogue between transparency and opacity—vibrant crystalline hues combined with velvety hardstones, all illuminated by delicate pavé to heighten depth and presence. Unexpected pairings are a hallmark of the Maison’s Milanese sensibility: refined yet playful, effortless yet meticulously composed. In Bisanzio, this language becomes a contemporary Byzantine vision—regal, sculptural, irresistibly modern.

Guided by its Free Gems philosophy, Pomellato liberates stones from traditional rules of selection, cutting, and setting—favoring shapes and combinations that privilege character over convention. Led by its Gem Master’s eye, this quest shapes a chromatic lexicon that is distinctly Pomellato: bold yet understated.

A legacy continues

In 2017, for its 50th anniversary, Pomellato unveiled Ritratto— “portraits” that brought hardstones to center stage with couture precision. Last year, the historic Mora and Mosaico lines were reimagined with renewed allure—further enriching the Maison’s color vocabulary and underscoring its Milanese goldsmithing heritage.

Bisanzio exemplifies how Pomellato reshaped fine jewelry in the 1990s by elevating colored gemstones to true luxury. Launching in October 2025, the capsule translates the Maison’s history into treasures for today’s discerning connoisseurs—each one rigorously handcrafted at Casa Pomellato in Milan.
