ASICS SportStyle unveils The Signature Series, a new initiative spotlighting seasonal pinnacle products with rich storytelling. Launching this series is a partnership with renowned Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen, introducing the GEL-CUMULUSTM 16 SSCB sneaker — a refined reissue of a heritage silhouette, reimagined with elevated design language and crafted with her in mind.
The Signature Series aims to bring energy to key products by inviting creative voices to reinterpret ASICS icons through the lens of Sound Mind, Sound Body, blending aesthetic expression with the joy of movement and everyday comfort. The first release in the Signature Series marks the return of the iconic GEL-CUMULUSTM 16 shoe, ASICS’ latest archival bring-back. Originally launched in 2014, the GEL-CUMULUSTM 16 shoe features its authentic upper design and the high-performance sole unit of ASICS’ iconic model, combining comfort and nostalgia in a fresh new form.
For this season, ASICS focused on designing with “Her” in mind, reimagining the model through a uniquely feminine lens. Cecilie Bahnsen brings her “Everyday Couture” philosophy to life with three elegant iterations of the GEL-CUMULUSTM 16 Signature Series, each adorned with delicate floral- printed uppers, semi-transparent mesh layers, and a bespoke flower lace toggle.
“In designing this shoe, we wanted to explore the juxtaposition of femininity and masculinity,” says Cecilie Bahnsen. “We used softly transparent materials and delicate floral motifs against a robust silhouette, playing with contrasts of shiny and matte, softness and structure, light and shadow. The inspiration came from flowers casting faint shadows in pale sunlight — a subtle, romantic visual we tried to capture through layering and texture.”

At the heart of this collaboration lies the mantra “All Day, Every Day” — Cecilie Bahnsen’s personal expression of what Sound Mind, Sound Body means to her. Whether biking to her Copenhagen studio or embracing the emotional power of beautiful design, Bahnsen and her team embody a lifestyle where wellbeing, comfort, and confidence are seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
This ethos is reflected in the GEL-CUMULUSTM 16 SSCB shoe construction. The shoe features rearfoot and forefoot GELTM technology, FLYTEFOAMTM PROPEL cushioning, and a TRUSSTICTM support unit, delivering ASICS’ signature comfort and support for day-long wear.
The ASICS SportStyle GEL-CUMULUSTM 16 SSCB shoe will be available in three colorways, launching Friday, June 27, 2025 on ASICS SportStyle online and in select global retailers.
