ICONA ARCHITETTI ASSOCIATI LEADS THE CREATIVE DIRECTION OF SANSONE PAVIMENTI

For the second consecutive year, Icona Architetti Associati leads the creative direction of Sansone Pavimenti, continuing a research path that blends contemporary design and Sicilian manufacturing tradition.

On the occasion of Salone del Mobile 2026, the studio presents two new collections of cement tiles, born from an exploration of the generative value of the curve as a compositional principle that defines Icona’s identity.

The first collection, named “Novilunio” (New Moon), originates from the curve understood as a design axiom: a primary, essential sign capable of constructing a graphic system that is both rigorous and soft. The curve is reinterpreted through a light yet precise design that generates sinuous geometries, evoking Art Deco atmospheres and suggestions of crescent moon segments. The composition of the four tiles creates a central motif that expands the space and builds dynamic surfaces, where solid and void exist in balanced dialogue.

The second collection, “Pura,” stems from the same geometric matrix but redefines its compositional language. Here, the curve becomes a tool for generating freer and more fluid patterns, where the laying of the tiles produces soft, sinuous, and alternating sequences capable of transforming into ever-changing configurations. The result is a surface that alternates rhythm and movement, in which the design emerges from the relationship between the individual elements.

Both collections explore the cement tile as an architectural material, capable of shaping spatial identity through sign, geometry, and matter: a brushstroke of identity that surfaces through the composition’s texture and rhythm.

A project that enhances the artisanal dimension of Sansone Pavimenti’s production and translates it into a contemporary, essential, and timeless language, distinctive characteristics that define the work of Icona Architetti Associati.
