Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo presents the Hong Kong Watch Auction: XX, featuring rare masterpieces from Patek Philippe, F.P. Journe, and an exceptional 19th-century collection made for the Chinese market.

From May 23 to 25, the world of haute horlogerie turns its eyes to Hong Kong as Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo reveals highlights from its much-anticipated Hong Kong Watch Auction: XX. Taking place at the auction house’s Asia headquarters in the West Kowloon Cultural District, the sale comprises 258 lots that capture both mechanical mastery and historical depth.

The spotlight will shine brightly on a dedicated evening session on May 23, showcasing 16 museum-quality timepieces crafted in the 19th century for the Chinese market. These rare objects—among them a yellow gold flintlock pistol-form perfume sprinkler concealing a watch, and pearl-studded sonnerie pocket watches—embody a poetic fusion of East and West. Many of these pieces, preserved for over three decades, are resurfacing for the first time and invite collectors to own part of a forgotten chapter in horological history.

The day sessions on May 24 and 25 pivot towards the contemporary and the iconic. Patek Philippe takes center stage with a possibly unique ref. 5970P-013 in platinum, featuring four striking red hands and an intimate engraving, A Mon Fils. Equally captivating is a rare Nautilus ref. 3700/1 bearing the Omani Khanjar emblem, and the neo-vintage ref. 3971J with a seldom-seen Italian calendar.

Independent watchmaking, too, finds its moment of reverence. Highlights include F.P. Journe’s Chronomètre à Résonance “Black Label” and a fourth-generation Tourbillon Souverain—each a testament to modern innovation rooted in classical ideals.

Vintage collectors will be drawn to a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 6263, featuring the UAE’s Quraysh Hawk emblem and a dial commissioned for the Ministry of Defense—an extraordinary artifact of diplomatic elegance and cultural legacy.

“As we celebrate the tenth anniversary of Phillips Watches, we’re proud to present a collection that transcends time—both literally and metaphorically,” said Thomas Perazzi, Head of Watches, Asia, and Gertrude Wong, Head of Sale. “From 19th-century mechanical marvels made for the Chinese imperial court, to modern icons by Patek Philippe and today’s most respected independent watchmakers, this auction is an ode to artistry, legacy, and the evolution of timekeeping.”

A preview of the collection will travel through Singapore (April 18–19), Taipei (May 3–4), and Geneva (May 7–11), before opening to the public in Hong Kong on May 16. Collectors, connoisseurs, and aesthetes alike are invited to discover a selection where time stands still—just long enough to take your breath away.
