BABY DIOR a beauty line for children dressed by Cordélia de Castellane X L’eau de senteur by Francis Kurkdijan

The scent of childhood.

Dior has always focused on the greatly prized era of childhood, which was celebrated by Christian Dior in collections inspired by his early years in Granville, as well as in outfits that he liked to design for the children of his close friends. Baby Dior, a line of clothing and objects for children, first appeared in 1967, and was soon accompanied by an eponymous eau de cologne.

In 2012, when Cordélia de Castellane took up her post as Artistic Director for the Baby Dior collections, she dreamed of a new Baby Dior fragrance. Francis Kurkdjian made it a reality with “Bonne Étoile”, an eau de senteur available as part of a complete skincare line for little ones.

Today, in a natural continuation of this story dedicated to childhood combined with a touch of luminous audacity, Baby Dior gains a whole new perfumed universe, scented with delightful notes of subtle fruit, cotton wool and velvety petals. This signature scent full of tenderness was created by Francis Kurkdjian as a protective bubble of softness, and a delicate caress on baby’s skin.

The aptly named “Bonne Étoile” is an eau de senteur, which provides an introduction to the sweet sensation of perfume application, like a first olfactory step taken under the most benevolent auspices.

Its fresh, fruity and enveloping notes are reassuring. Available in a collection of products that respect children’s skin, La Mousse très fondante, Le Lait très tendre and L’Eau très fraîche have been designed to add a touch of magic to baby’s bath time.

Dressed in a luminous toile de Jouy specially created for the occasion by Cordélia de Castellane, the pastel-coloured bottles portray an imaginary and phantasmagorical Granville garden, where delicately drawn animal scenes are enlivened by colourful hot air balloons.

In a poetic encounter between children’s fashion and fragrance, Baby Diorrenews the challenge set by Christian Dior, to create the tender scent of childhood magic.

Not really a perfume, but rather, a scent that might become a perfume. An extension of a caress on the cheek or a goodnight kiss. The trace of a very first olfactory experience suffused with protection, softness, and happiness. An eau de senteur for babies presents the dual challenge of avoiding fragrance clichés and respecting the child’s skin.

Formulated without alcohol and containing 98% natural origin ingredients[1]Bonne Étoile” is the beautiful, very first[2] step into fragrance, designed with babies in mind from every point of view.

Francis Kurkdjian created “Bonne Étoile” as a natural and transparent scent, like a dedication to the Dior spirit inherited from the couturier’s dream-filled childhood.

The idea of roundness and tenderness of the full cheeks of a beautiful baby led to this eau de senteur, which was composed and blended to be both simple and sophisticated, while avoiding complexity.

Notes of juicy pear meet soft floral eglantine, and then draw to a close with velvety musk notes.

Everything is there, full and sweet, tender and beautiful. As childhood should always be.
