L’Artisan Parfumeur: La Cérémonie de l’Encens – The new Eau de Parfum

The origin of perfumery

Perfume has its roots in incense, which has been used since the second millennium. The Latin word ‘perfumum’ literally means ‘through smoke’, reflecting the method of fumigation. Incense has long held a mystical allure, serving as a sacred connection between the profane and divine, the visible and the invisible, and as a means of purification for the Egyptian gods.

From visible to invisible

Jean Laporte is an avid traveler. During a trip to the Middle East, he discovered incense, which is also known as olibanum. This fragrance comes from the resin of a tree that grows on the shores of the Red Sea. To stay true to its original essence, Mathilde Bijaoui, the perfumer of La Cérémonie de l’Encens chose to harmonize it with cedar and pepper. The result is a peaceful, flowing blend of notes—capturing the mystical connection between the physical world and the supernatural.

Vessel of thoughts

Velvety, spiritual and enchanting, La Cérémonie de l’Encens serves as a vessel for our thoughts, unveiling the deepest of our inner selves. Outside is a powerful wake that leaves a memory as vivid as silky to the ones we meet. Isn’t that the feature of every great fragrance?
