Louis Vuitton presents Mon Monogram

Rooted in the art of travel, personalisation on canvas has been offered throughout the history of Louis Vuitton.

Personalisation was born at the same time as the House. Originally, the marking of trunks met the need to distinguish them from those of other travellers. Beyond a means of identification, personalisation is an artistic imprint that gives the object a unique character.

Over the decades, the House has maintained the art of personalisation at the service of its clients. For instance, the Gaston-Louis Vuitton Steamer bag, a defining piece of the Maison’s heritage from 1901, featured a bold graphic atop canvas.

A trunk constructed in 1911 for the couturier Paul Poiret with his name painted in large lettering attests to the enduring tradition of customisation. What began as a functional need to identify one’s luggage evolved into a status symbol and a canvas for creativity. In the 1920s, a dedicated personalisation service even gave clients the possibility to create their own monogram.

Integral to the DNA of the House, this commitment to offering clients unique ways to personalise and identify their Louis Vuitton designs has expanded over the years. More recently, in 2008, this iconic service evolved into a totally new personalisation experience that invited clients to make their mark on the pieces they carry. Today’s Mon Monogram expands upon the original 2008 service by extending the range of models and motifs. Versatile and unisex, products such as the travel bags, rolling luggage, travel accessories, city bags and small leather goods are customised to order and made by hand by our artisans in France. Launching this service is a testament to the deeply rooted nature of client personalisation as central to the ethos of the House, which first launched as a business of special orders.

Mon Monogram service, accessible digitally and through in-store locations, proposes a wider range of possibilities such as new colours, typefaces, stripe designs and patches to enhance women’s and men’s bags in classic Monogram and also on Monogram Eclipse for select items. Models eligible for personalisation include the Travel set which comprises the Keepall, Horizon, the Trio Poche Toilette Monogram, the Christopher backpack, the OnTheGo Monogram, the passport cover, and other products.

Much like the idea that every journey begins with a blank canvas, clients begin by selecting their iconic piece then they select from a palette of new colours that are applied to initials and new optional stripes. Clients can also choose to have their initials set within new vintage-style patches that capture the spirit of design eras such as the Belle Époque or Art Nouveau which can also be positioned in groups and according to several schemes. From each of these options, the outcome is entirely unique.

Mon Monogram proposes countless different combinations. The manufacturing process involves three-layer digital printing to achieve the bright colours and well-defined shapes that endure. From the moment the order is placed, the turnaround time is optimised to ensure a three weeks delivery to clients. Whether for oneself or as a thoughtful gift for someone special, Mon Monogram is a timeless piece of craftmanship imbued with lifelong meaning. A bold stripe for the adventures that shaped you; initials representing someone held dear.

This enhanced iteration of Mon Monogram will continue evolving with a larger selection of Louis Vuitton materials, models and motifs to come.
