Molteni&C takes part in the reopening of Hotel Ancora in Cortina, showcasing in this project the brand’s renowned expertise in custom-made design. Founded in 1826 and considered a symbol of hospitality in Cortina, Hotel Ancora is now reborn thanks to the vision of Renzo Rosso, founder of the OTB fashion group, who restores it to its central role in the life of Cortina: a place of connection, culture, and aesthetics at the heart of Corso Italia.
Far from the conventional codes of hospitality, Ancora Cortina is designed for those seeking character, identity, and an ongoing dialogue with the surrounding landscape and history. For nearly two centuries, Ancora has been more than just a place to stay; it has been a central presence in Cortina’s life, a crossroads of seasons and encounters. With its reopening in 2025, Ancora undergoes a profound renewal, reaffirming its role in the city’s scene and becoming an active part of a transformative moment for the entire destination.
At the core of the project is Renzo Rosso’s vision, imagining Ancora as more than a hotel: a place that expresses, in every detail, the balance between creative energy and design care, with an unmistakable stylistic imprint. A project aimed at bringing a historic space back to the center and turning it into a lively, transversal, and contemporary landmark.
Cortina is about to enter a new phase in its history — more dynamic and international — culminating with the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. In this context, the hotel aims to contribute to redefining the destination’s identity by restoring prominence to a place that has long been both the backdrop and a protagonist of its story.
Ancora has been conceived as an open and dynamic space, where every environment has a purpose but also a soul.
The bar, open throughout the day, tells the story of the mountains with alpine botanicals and carefully selected spirits.
The terrace on Corso Italia, long a part of the hotel’s identity, is now a true open-air lounge: a place for conviviality, meetings, and relaxation, from breakfast to aperitivo. At the heart of the hotel is the spa: over 200 sqm featuring a hammam, sauna, Turkish
bath, cryotherapy, cutting-edge beauty treatments, and relaxation areas. Completing the offer are a Technogym gym and a space dedicated to yoga and breathing.
The interior design was entrusted to Charles & Co, led by Vicky Charles, former design director of Soho House. The hotel has been completely reimagined: natural materials, wood and stone, warm colors, and furniture choices reflecting a personal style. The 38 rooms, divided into seven categories, are all unique. Each has a distinct identity, made up of refined details, curated objects, colors, and materials that echo the surrounding environment. All rooms face the Dolomites, offering a warm and intimate atmosphere
throughout.
Molteni&C contributes to the re-opening of Hotel Ancora, crafting all the built-in woodwork for the guest rooms — including doors, ceilings, wardrobes, headboards, freestanding wooden furnishings, as well as shower enclosures and glass partitions in the bathrooms. The fixed furnishings in the common areas also bear the signature of Molteni&C: doors, wall paneling, ceilings, partitions, bar and reception counters, as well as all wooden support furnishings, including corridor paneling, ceilings, and entrance doors. Renzo Rosso also chose Molteni&C for the interior design of his private apartment and the hotel’s main suite.
The collaboration between Molteni&C and Hotel Ancora is a celebration of bespoke excellence — where craftsmanship, innovation, attention to detail, and savoir-faire come together to create spaces that are both unique and timeless.
