Montblanc announces its role as Associate Sponsor of the Design Museum’s exhibition Wes Anderson: The Archives, following the Maison’s ongoing creative partnership with the award- winning filmmaker.
Opening on 21 November 2025, the exhibition will present a rare collection from Anderson’s archives — spanning storyboards, sketches, costumes, puppets, models, props, and handwritten notebooks — many of which will be displayed publicly in Britain for the first time.
As part of the exhibition, the “SCHREIBERLING”, a writing instrument created by Wes Anderson for Montblanc, will be on display. Limited to just 1,969 pieces — paying tribute to the filmmaker’s year of birth — it features vibrant green and yellow lacquer and is crowned with the Montblanc emblem surrounded by coral-coloured precious resin, a nod to one of the Maison’s early iconic designs.
The exhibition follows the success of Wes Anderson’s recent collaboration with Montblanc, in which he directed two brand films for the German Maison. The short film “Let’s Write”, launched in June, features Wes Anderson regulars Rupert Friend, Michael Cera, and Waris Ahluwalia, alongside newcomer Esther McGregor and Anderson himself. Set in the surreal, snowbound Montblanc Observatory High-Mountain Library, it continues Anderson’s exploration of the brand’s connection to writing, blending wit, whimsy, and metaphysical reflection.
Montblanc’s unparalleled craftsmanship has been the driving force behind our collaboration with Wes Anderson, allowing us to seamlessly merge our heritage with his unmistakable visual storytelling. This creative vision, collaboratively shaped, has influenced everything from our short films to the design of our latest pieces. The display of The ‘SCHREIBERLING’ Limited Edition 1969 alongside such iconic cultural objects powerfully underscores how Montblanc pens have transcended their functional purpose to become enduring symbols of creativity and pop culture,” says Stephanie Radl, Director of Brand Communications and Relations.
The collaboration with Wes Anderson has not only resulted in the creation of two films and the launch of the “SCHREIBERLING”, but has also led Montblanc and Anderson to develop a series of bespoke writing instruments crafted for The Phoenician Scheme. These include the Heritage Rouge et Noir Coral with Serpentine Clip, a recreation of the 1920s original, and a unique Meisterstück 149 inspired by 1950s design codes — both reflecting the film’s mid-century aesthetic and narrative charm.
