GUERLAIN PARIS: VÉTIVER FAUVE – THE NEW EAU DE PARFUM

For this new opus of L’Art & La Matière collection, Guerlain plunges into the heart of a lush jungle with a bold reinterpretation of vetiver, inspired by the world of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. A creation in which Vetiver root reveals an unexpected freshness, evoking a wild world in which nature reigns supreme: the awakening of a jungle at early morning, untameable, teeming with sounds, colours and captivating scents… A new unisex fresh woody sillage joins Guerlain’s finest perfumery collection.

A NEW EXPRESSION OF VETIVER

Guerlain has taken its inspiration from this extraordinary nature to create its new olfactive masterpiece. At the heart of the perfume lies a vetiver root – a beloved Guerlain raw material that previously sublimated Vétiver, the legendary male fragrance launched in 1959.

For Vétiver Fauve, Delphine Jelk has chosen to reinvent this traditionally dark and mysterious ingredient, in a new light. She tames the untameable, bringing vetiver back to its origins. Although dry, the root is here tinged with a luxuriant freshness. On contact with a tropical green accord, it awakens with a vibrant botanical vivacity, transporting us to the heart of a jungle, in the fresh humidity of dawn…

A FRAGRANT JUNGLE AWAKENS

To the richness of the sounds and images conjured up by the writer’s words echoes the wealth of notes and sensations composed by the perfumer. The same wild world, enchanting with its magic and imaginary.

It is dawn. Night has not yet given way to daybreak, it gently lingers, making its mark on untouched nature. Sheltered by foliage, the ground still bursting with water reveals its scents in the nocturnal freshness. A wild animal slowly crosses the jungle, its senses on alert, embracing every noise, every scent, every aroma of this awakening world.

Like this jungle crossing, Vétiver Fauve reveals its composition, calling on sight, touch and taste as the notes unfold… The wild animal approaches step by step, the ground is fresh, intensely scented with this lush vegetation. An almost palpable sensation is felt from the moment the composition spreads with a fruity tropical green accord. The smell of dew blends with the rustling of leaves. An appeal to the senses in which the perfume extends the noises of this mysterious night. The sun breaks through the trees and vines, caressing the wild animal’s coat. The air gets warmer, the scents and flavours intertwine and other fragrances are revealed. The scents of ripe fruit are perceived in the perfume through fig accord and sun- soaked pineapple. Juicy with a slight sweetness, they bring a comfortable roundness to the vetiver essence that runs through the whole composition. Its woody nuances are sustained in the sillage by a vibrant tonka bean and cypriol duo.

An elegant depth that evokes the magic of a wild animal prowling at dawn in a jungle coming to life…

A BOTTLE INSPIRED BY THE SHADES OF THE JUNGLE

For this new creation, L’Art & la Matière’s iconic octagonal bottle is adorned by the botanical tones of the jungle: the fragrance itself is tinted with a bright and captivating green, expressing in colours the inspiration for a fresh and intriguing vetiver.

All of wild nature’s shades of green are concentrated at the heart of the bottle. Leaf green, fern green, luminous jade… Discerning the freshness of a tropical vegetation awakening at dawn, the dewdrops beading along stems, scents rising from damp ground, and raw vetiver plunging its roots into humid soil. And to beautifully enhance the whole effect, the radiance of the glass and its fine ridges play with the green softness of the perfume, further accentuating the composition’s impression of freshness.

This new olfactive masterpiece created by Delphine Jelk, is also accompanied by a new plate that joins L’Art & La Matière’s customisation catalogue. In silver-toned metal, its delicately hammered motifs echo drops of fresh water beading on leaves and rushes.
